In real life, Gert and Evidia are a lesbian couple living in the North East of England, which is the bottom bit of the mainland of the United Kingdom (England, that is, not the North East. The North East is in the north east bit of England...)
Gert is not really a peasant and Evidia is not really a Mrs Preacher-Man. Sorry to disappoint you if you believed that stuff, but these characters emerged from several trips to the beach by two eccentric Lancastrians, one of whom is one of the authors of this most pleasing blog. It seemed fun to adopt their unique and special 'personalities' to make this a truly unique web event.
Enough of what they are not. In the real world, Gert and Evidia are a loving couple who for various reasons have to be careful to keep their real identities quiet. They are, however, rather batty and would like to pass eccentric comment on lesbian life and the silliness of the world. Eeeee!
